How to download and apply a skin

Download a skin as a PNG and apply it in Minecraft Java Edition, on any launcher or through minecraft.net.

Download the PNG

Every skin on this site is a plain PNG texture. Open the skin you want and press Download PNG. The file lands in your Downloads folder with the skin’s name — nothing is packed or compressed, so there is nothing to unzip.

Apply it on minecraft.net

  1. Sign in at minecraft.net and open your profile.
  2. Choose Skins, then Add new skin.
  3. Upload the PNG and pick the arm model — Classic for 4-pixel arms, Slim for 3-pixel arms. Each skin page on this site lists which one it was drawn for, under Model.
  4. Save. The skin applies the next time you launch the game.

Apply it in the launcher

The official launcher has a Skins tab. Press New Skin, give it a name, browse to the PNG and choose the model. The launcher uploads it to your account, so it works on every computer you sign in to.

If the skin looks wrong

Arms too thin or too fat means the model is set the other way round — switch between Classic and Slim. Missing patches usually mean the file was edited and saved without its transparency; download it again from this site. A skin that does not change at all is almost always the game still running from before the upload: close it fully and launch again.
